Chrysler 200 Lives Up To Hype

The Chrysler 200 is living up to the hype created by the award-winning commercial featuring Eminem driving the car through Detroit, according to reports by Canada's National Post and Sun Media Corp.

"The marque's reinvention started with the 200," it writes, and now "the company's entire portfolio has been revamped in an attempt to persuade potential customers to take the 'new' Chrysler out for a spin."

And the National Post says consumers…

"Chrysler Group is introducing a spanking new eight-speed automatic transmission on V-6 versions of the 2012 Dodge Charger, and boy, does that make all the difference", USA Today said. "It's hard to put into words how much better the 2012 drives, feels, flings and fuels than the 2011, but let's try - 'Wow,' the paper said - the 2012 drives like a dream. It feels the way your recall would portray the big, old American…

While many cities, companies, and individuals would like to lighten their carbon footprint, we here at Goss Dodge Chrysler know that it isn't as easy as it seems. At a meeting with members of the media last month to mark the repayment of the automaker's $7.5 billion in government bailout loans, Chrysler's new CEO Sergio Marchionne remarked that it's not often that you get a second chance in life.

Italian auto maker Fiat SpA is mulling a plan to quickly take a majority stake in Chrysler Group LLC by purchasing shares from the U.S. Treasury and a United Auto Workers health trust fund, people familiar with the matter said.

A purchase could come within the next few months, these people said, moving up the timetable for majority control. Fiat already owns a 46% stake and has been expected to gain an additional 5…

In days past, car-buyers had a very simple choice of transmission: 4-speed or nothing at all. Then there was (and arguably still is) the time, when 6-speed transmissions were in vogue. Luxury models, however, have since bypassed 6-speed transmissions in favor of an even better 7-speed transmission. The next logical progression would be an 8-speed transmission.

Chrysler is on the right track, planning to adopt an 8-speed longitudal transmission in its rear-wheel drive cars, which…

Fiat Graffiti Artist

By Ed Garsten:

"While I was at the Charity Preview Friday night for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, I ran into a guy armed with a load of spray paint cans, a big smile and a brand new Fiat 500 for a canvas. Said his name is "Shades," a professional artist from Detroit. Took out the FLIP camera, turned it on and listened to Shades tell his story and watched him transform…

If you asked a contractor if he or she got 27 mpg, they'd likely scoff at you frustrated at the heavy-duty, gas-guzzling truck they need to get their job done. Landscapers, boaters and others who require room and power to haul equipment would likely offer a similar rebuff.

The good news is - there are trucks available which are able to haul a lot of material and offer better gas mileage. To help people identify…
